MICHAEL & THE BUDDHIST TRADITION: Michael has been attending MINDFULNESS Retreats with the Vietnamese Zen BUDDHIST monk Thich Nhat Hanh since the mid-1990s. Before that, he was studying and practicing teachings from the Tibetan BUDDHIST tradition. Since 2009, Michael and his wife Ali have led an emergent church melding stories and traditions from Buddhism, Christianity, and Mother Earth Spirituality, the Buddhist Christian Mother-Earth Church. Through three years of full-time seminary training, Michael focused on the interface between Christianity and Buddhism, integrating lore and stories from the BUDDHIST tradition into all of his seminary course work.
As said above, Michael’s two areas of storytelling focus are (A) Sacred Stories and (B) Mythos & Folk Lore. Given his focus on Sacred Stories, Michael the Storyteller’s repertoire also includes hours worth of stories with these four other Sacred Stories themes:
• Bible Stories & Christian Legends
• Sacred Family Lore: The Blue-Collar Wit & Wisdom of Youngstown, Ohio & Beyond
• Wisdom Tales from Around the World (especially for Children)
Michael also has Multiple Themes for his Mythos & Folk Lore Storytelling Programs.
Finally, those with an interest in Michael’s BUDDHIST Storytelling may also have an interest in the following PUBLIC TALKS, LECTURES and WORKSHOPS by Michael:
