MICHAEL & THE CHRISTIAN TRADITION: Michael recently completed his seminary training at the Methodist Theological School of Ohio (MTSO); O’Malley now holds a Master of Divinity degree with a specialization in EcoTheology, EcoSpirituality, and Social Justice. Michael the Storyteller has now officially become Michael the Parson! 

Like many CHRISTIAN leaders of the past and present, Michael holds a non-supremacist view of Christianity. This allows him to find inspiration in the CHRISTIAN tradition, just as he does in Buddhism and Mother Earth Spirituality. Michael turns toward the Bible, sacred legends, teachings of CHRISTIAN leaders of the past and present, and, especially, the rich myriad of teachings of Jesus – as sources for guidance, healing, and direction on the Sacred and Beneficial Path. CHRISTIAN LEGENDS AND BIBLE STORIES have been a source of illumination, awakening, and enchantment for Centuries. Michael the Storyteller stands in this tradition.

In her classic book The Way of the Storyteller, Ruth Sawyer says, “Every traditional storyteller I have heard – and I have gone into many countries to find them – has shown above everything else that intense urge to share with others what has already moved him deeply.” O’Malley draws from that which touches and captivates him in the hope that such stories may similarly move new generations of listeners. Michael shares the stories, legends, and lore from the CHRISTIAN tradition that have moved him deeply.

(iii) FRESH GREEN BIBLE STORIES: Michael refers to the Bible Stories that he shares as “Fresh Green” Bible Stories because he invites us to open ourselves to fresh understandings of beautiful, old, sacred texts and because he always reads both the Hebrew Bible and the New Testament with “Mother Earth eyes” – experiencing the Judeo-Christian tradition as a sacred source in caring for our Earth.
