MICHAEL & THE YULETIDE TRADITION:  CHRISTMAS is a time of stories and storytelling.  Some of Michael’s earliest and fondest memories are connected to the YULETIDE Season. Michael laments that the CHRISTMAS Season has become laced with commercialism and mindless consumption.  Through story, legend, and lore, Michael’s CHRISTMAS Tales return us to mystery and wonder, to playfulness and generosity, to children and ancestors.

For his CHRISTMAS Storytelling Programs, O’Malley often dons a suit tailored in the early 1900’s as he invites us to travel with him across space and time, as he draws us into enchantment. The director of libraries in one small town captures the experience of many of Michael’s YULETIDE listeners when she writes, “The magic and joy of the holiday season came to life with Michael’s sharing of the Christmas tales. Our historic town hall was full. The children, parents, and elders all thoroughly enjoyed the stories. It was a wonderful evening and it was the perfect Christmas gift for our community.”

Michael’s aspiration is to create the space where mystery and charm may meet; a place where the ancestors may join us in delight and reflection; a room where the beautiful stories of the YULETIDE Season arise and fill our hearts, our imaginations, and our spirits.
